How Does Bravecto Work? 

Fluralaner, the main ingredient in bravecto® chews for dogs, kills parasites that live on the skin. This is called a “ectoparasiticide.” It says that it gets rid of ticks, fleas, and mites that live on or near the fur, skin, or ears of cats. Bravecto lowers the chance of getting B. Canis canis by killing D. reticulatus ticks. For the active ingredient to be seen, parasites should stick to the skin and start feeding on the dog or cat. 

The fluralaner kills ticks, fleas, and mites that have eaten blood from a cat or dog by working on their nervous system. It stops the normal flow of charged chloride particles (ions) into and out of nerve cells, especially those linked to glutamate and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), two molecules that send signals between nerves (neurotransmitters). It makes the nervous system work too hard, which paralyzes the parasites and kills them. Fluralaner kills fleas before they can lay eggs, which keeps the surroundings from getting dirty. 

Bravecto gets rid of both fleas and lice on dogs in 12 to 48 hours. Over the course of 12 and 48 hours, Bravecto kills lice and fleas on dogs. 

How Can Bravecto Be Used?

For dogs, Bravecto comes in a syringe with a spot-on treatment, and for dogs, it comes in pills that can be chewed. Spot-onbravecto® chews for dogs treatments and pills come in different strengths for dogs of different sizes. One Bravecto dropper is filled to the top and put on the dog’s skin between its shoulder blades.  

From the first spot in a line to the end of the tail, dogs can get many spots. The correct pipette is picked based on how much the dog weighs. It keeps killing fleas and ticks for 12 weeks after it is applied. Pills of the right strength for the dog’s weight are given to the dog when it eats or close to when it eats.  

Its affects on fleas and ticks last for 12 weeks and 8 to 12 weeks, respectively, after it is used. For the best flea control, the treatment must be used again every twelve weeks. For the best tick control, treatments should be done every 8 to 12 weeks, depending on the type of tick. 

Dogs only need one kind of care for Demodex and Sarcoptic mange. Different things can cause demodectic mange, so it’s best to treat any underlying health problems. Follow your vet’s advice about how often and how often you need to treat sarcoptic mange again. Ear mites should be checked by a vet 28 days after they have been treated. If more care is needed, it will be up to the doctor to decide what to do. 

How To Keep People Safe Before Giving Medicine

Chewable pills of Bravecto 

To keep kids from getting to the medicine directly, you must keep it in packages that can’t be opened until it’s time to use it. Some people were hypersensitive (or “allergic”) to the effects of the medicine. Users can’t eat, drink, or smoke while giving the drug, and they need to wash their hands right away with soap and water. 

Bravecto medicine for the skin 

Try to avoid touching the medicine. When giving the drug, you must use the throwaway rubber gloves that come with the medicine. Many people have said that their allergic reactions could be dangerous. If you are allergic to fluralaner or any of the other ingredients in the drug, don’t deal. 

The medicine may also stick to things other than skin after it has been spilled. A few people have had serious skin problems, pain, or numbness after touching the skin. If you can see skin, you should wash the affected area well with soap and water. When medicine gets on your fingers, it can be hard to clean it off with soap and water.  

When the sick dog is touched, it is also possible to get medicine on your hands. It would help if the application site couldn’t be reached until it was no longer viewable. It means getting close to the pet and sleeping next to it. After the area is dry, you won’t be able to see it for up to 48 hours. If you have a skin response, you must go to the doctor and show him or her the product booklet or label.  

Be careful when handling both the medicine and the pets who need it. Its medicine might make the eyes feel bad. If you get water in your eyes, you must do it right away and carefully. It is dangerous to take this medicine. The drug must be kept in its original bottle until it is used. This keeps kids from getting to it directly. Pipettes must be thrown away right away after being used.  

In case of accidental use, a doctor must be called and the package paper or label given to them. Because Bravecto spot-on treatment is very flammable, you must keep it away from heat, sparks, fire risks, and other things that could start a fire. If there is a spill on a table or floor, you must pick up the extra medicine with a paper towel and clean the area with soap. 

How Safe Is Bravecto? 

In fact, most cats can use Bravecto without harm. Before the FDA approves a drug, it has to go through a number of scientific tests to show that it is safe and works. The study found that healthy cats could handle five times the amount of fluralaner that one safety study said was safe.  

Some Collies with a genetic defect that makes them unable to tolerate some drugs, like ivermectin, do well on Bravecto. Bravecto is like any other medicine in that it can cause side effects.  

Convulsions happen even less often, but they can still happen. Because of this, it’s best not to give it to cats who have been told they have epilepsy or seizures. Concerns have been raised over the last few years about the link between Bravecto and the deaths of pets. Even though these claims are scary, they are based on anecdotes, and no clear links have been made yet.  

European officials have gathered information and asked Merck to look into any possible link, so you can expect to hear more about this as time goes on. 

Here are some of the things that could happen to your pets:  

Throwing up  

It’s rare for someone to throw up after taking a pill, but it does happen sometimes. 

If your cat throws up after eating a chew, you should talk to your vet because they might not have eaten enough to help. Don’t just give your pet more medicine because it is possible to give too much. 

Alopecia means loss of hair. 

Only 1% of people will get this, and most of the time it doesn’t hurt. 

Having diarrhea 

Even though it doesn’t happen very often, diarrhea generally goes away on its own without treatment. If your dog also seems tired and listless, you should see a vet. 

Lack of energy 

A small number of cats get sleepy for a short time after getting their dose. 

Lack of hunger 

Even if an animal doesn’t throw up, it may still feel sick and not want to eat. Again, this must go away quickly. 

Rash 

When you use the liquid solution, these usually show up as small cases of dermatitis. If your pet is itching a lot or if the situation doesn’t get better quickly, you should talk to your veterinarian. 

Having gas 

It has only been seen in animals that have been chewed on, but it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the external treatment. 

Need to drink 

Some pets that eat a chew may seem too thirsty for a short time afterward. If this doesn’t happen often, it’s nothing to worry about. 

But pet owners shouldn’t worry because these side effects aren’t too bad for their pets. Before giving your dog Bravecto, you should talk to your vet about the issues you’re having.
